Two-time Juno-winning banjoist Jayme Stone makes music inspired by folk traditions from around the world. His latest album, Room of Wonders, explores music from Norway, Sweden, Bulgaria, Brazil, Italy and North America. The repertoire includes a movement from Bachʼs French Suite, a Moorish sword-fighting dance and Stoneʼs lush, edgy originals.
Stone thrives on unexpected inspiration: Japanese poetry, Brazilian literature, instruments he found while traveling in remote Malian villages. He finds it with influences as diverse as Anouar Brahem, Bill Frisell, and Toumani Diabaté. His Juno Award-winning albums, most notably Africa to Appalachia, both defy and honor the banjoʼs long role in the worldʼs music, turning historical connections into compelling music.

Gregory Hoskins released his first recording for True North Records with his band The Stickpeople at the age of 27. He has since released solo CDs and many recordings, and was Artist in Residence at De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Creation Center (home to Canada’s largest First Nations theater company) on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario creating new material, giving writing workshops, and recording. Hoskins has opened for Sarah McLachlan, the Indigo Girls, the Neville Brothers, Bruce Cockburn, Rickie Lee Jones, Hawksley Workman and folk-legend Odetta among many others. He has also written for film, television, and radio.
Hoskins describes his workshops as a course in non-fiction as it applies to songwriting – a discussion about how to perceive our own lives as fodder for songs and what is needed to write a song whose benchmark of success is that it appeals not only to the artist who writes it, but to a room full of strangers as well. Central to a lyric that doesn’t suck is The Paradox: saying something universal but in a unique way. The only thing we have completely unique to us is our very own lives and our very own take on the world we live in. But, we often have difficulty discerning what, exactly, in our life deserves to become a piece of art. The short answer: all of it. But learning to discern, well, that is the trick. And combining that discernment with the craft is another trick, too.

Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart – Sold Out!
Video from concert here

Stacey & Mark on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 – Few husband-wife musical duos provide audiences with the complete entertainment package that Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart dish out in a live performance. Armed with clever acoustic guitar interplay, autobiographical songwriting, lovely harmonies, and humorous storytelling this couple captivates your attention from the first moment they are onstage. Based out of Tennessee, Earle and Stuart draw from blues, pop, country, rock, and more in their heartfelt music. The years of touring the folk/Americana circuit (playing 170 concerts a year) have given them a knack for reaching out to the audience in an intimate “come in to my living roomâ€? fashion.
You may have seen Stacey or Mark with Stacey’s brother, Steve Earle. Maybe on Jay Leno or on tour but now you can see them up close and personal in a more intimate setting.
Cailin and I are very pleased to be able to bring this fabulous couple to our little town.
